Dedicated to mathematics and theoretical physics, it also promotes a multidisciplinary approach and recently engaged in activities at the interface of mathematics and biology as well as new fields of research linked to high technology.IHÉS welcomes a few permanent professors (mathematicians and theoretician physicists), about the same number of long-time CNRS visitors and each year around 200 to 250 researchers of French or foreign institutions who are invited for research visits. Thanks to its permanent professors, IHÉS has been awarded numerous international rewards including 7 Fields medals.
